Farewell and Adieu…12/08/2013

Farewell and Adieu…12/08/2013 It’s away to Sea Palling again, needing more bass in the freezer for my wife’s return as an excuse for fishing constantly since she went away. Shaun’s back so he’s coming along too and we meet up in front of the dune at Waxham. This dune is hereafter to be known as Steve, courtesy of Renrag, who believes this will sap its strength and make the climb easier – a replacement of the current name of **** which I hasten to add is a surname. We scaled Steve, calling it by its old names and after lying down for a few hours in a state of utter exhaustion we got back to our fete and launched. It looked really good out on the reefs and we launched. “Photobucket” Nothing on the first, nothing on the second…I like the third as it seems to be lucky with the shallow lures I troll. In this instance I was using a 13cm Jointed Minnow which had taken a brace a few evenings before…Up I went, all the way to the end and back again. Started again and wallop! On the outside rod surprisingly “Photobucket” Thank you Waxham Three! A couple and a half pound, very nice! I tried two more passes, nada, then headed up the other reefs until I was level with the ramp at Sea Palling. I don’t usually do all that well on the northern reefs so turned once again, this time with my lucky Eco Narrow in the flame colouring. I love this lure, taken pike, perch and bass with it. 7cm long, noisy, bubbly, wiggly…and lost when my leader, abraided by rocks previously, parted when I got one hell of a whack from a fish (in an area clear of the reef and it didn’t float up again). I was heartbroken. “Photobucket” It was quite swelly… “Photobucket” “Photobucket” I headed off again, having replaced it with a blue mackerel version. The noise would be important, the water was cloudy close on the reefs. Something to do with the water being slightly turbulent. “Photobucket” The theory worked as I christened the less colourful brother with a slightly smaller brother… “Photobucket” …and ten minutes later had another one on but sadly it shook free as I turned from the reef and headed out to play it, free of danger. Yep, danger. The waves had now come up to around 3-5ft on the reefs from about 2-3ft earlier on. A big change in four hours and with nothing on the feathers we called it a day, surfing in nicely and heading home. A few more pics… “Photobucket” “Photobucket” “Photobucket” “Photobucket”
