Fourteen Is Two Part One...14/10/2013

Fourteen Is Two Part One...14/10/2013 Right. Monday. Back down the harbour, back on the Tetra, a quick dig of harbour rag and I was off again. “Photobucket” Straight off the slip, out to the jetty and look for smelt; they were hiding! “Photobucket” I dropped down, waited a few seconds and felt the tug; strike, reel, land, unhook! Common goby, not required for the point but I had a few while awaiting the smelt to put in an appearance. Mullet ignored once more. “Photobucket” I tried a few bits of the jetty, jiggling the bait around - a bait all of 5mm long and double hooked; so difficult with such tiny thin hooks and my fat fingers! try, try, move. “Photobucket” Try, try, move. Try, try...here it comes, moving in; I've been teasing them, keeping the bait moving so they got annoyed and kept missing things. Jiggle, jiggle, rise and drop, they're building in numbers and getting fed up...but that one turns and comes in again, I think it's going to bite if I let the bait settle; its flanks are flashing, silver, violet, blue...I stop for a second and it shoots in, seeing its chance and mouths the bait, chews it, I wait and then a quick flick of the wrist and it's on...point two for the wsf hunt! Finally. two days for two inches, ludicrous but marvellous! “Photobucket”
