After 6 Perch from 3 trips (largest was today, beating yesterdays half pounder) I finally trolled up my first pike today.
WHAT A WHOPPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Apart from being my smallest ever pike - I estimate 1/2lb or so - it was good to get the first one in. Old esox put up such a fight I hardly knew he was there and can't honestly recall hearing the ratchet go (it did with the perch). My nephews and niece (I took 3 of them out with me today for about 6 miles on the Waveney on Frenzys, aged 8-13) referred to it as massive, huge, etc etc. Bless 'em! It took a Shakespeare Midi S, in silver and grey, which hooked him through both top and bottom jaws. A quick snap and he was back in the water quite happily, none the worse for his adventure.
...I have to start somewhere.....besides, I made the effort paddling all day long.....
